In the news today, it was revealed that the infamous 80’s popstar Rick Astley has made the shortlist for best act ever at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. How has this happened? There was an internet phenomenon known as ‘Rickrolling’ which was a form of viral marketing. Millions of unexpecting victims members of public were forced to see shown the video of Rick Astley’s 80’s track, “Never gonna give you up”. Another prime example of viral marketing was Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Gorilla, playing the drums to Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight”.
